Students from Richmond, Indiana’s Fairview Elementary School toured the Gennett Records Walk of Fame and the historic Starr Piano Company site in Whitewater Gorge Park in December, 2014. They were entertained by Richmond jazz pianist Carol Lou Woodward during lunch at a local pizza restaurant.

The third-graders had been studying the history of jazz and its connection to Richmond, using a curriculum developed by the Starr-Gennett Foundation. After the visit, they made posters depicting what they had learned about the music and the artists who created it.

The Starr-Gennett Foundation supplies teaching materials to local elementary schools to supplement music education programs, and help students connect to the rich musical heritage of their home town.
