Mission
The mission of the Starr-Gennett Foundation is to promote and preserve the history of Gennett Records and its parent organization, the Starr Piano Company.
 
Objectives
  1. A Walk of Fame featuring the most important Gennett recording artists to be located along the Whitewater Gorge Trail at the former site of the Starr Piano Company.
  2. A Historic Audio Tour highlighting sites in Richmond with connections to the Starr Piano Company and Gennett Records.
  3. An annual music festival to celebrate the Starr-Gennett legacy.
  4. A "Satellite Museum" with small, temporary exhibits emphasizing different aspects of the Starr-Gennett legacy to be installed at select Richmond locations.
  5. Interpretive signage at key locations in Richmond with relevance to the Starr-Gennett legacy.
  6. Collaboration amongst area attractions, government entities, and other organizations to increase Richmond and Wayne County's profile as a tourism destination.
  7. An Interpretive Center to house the Foundation administrative offices, storage for the Starr-Gennett collection, an archive for music scholars, and an interpretive center for visitors.
  8. A re-creation of the Gennett Studio.
  9. National and international recognition and support for the Starr-Gennett legacy.
  10. A complete archive of recordings in the Gennett catalog.
  11. A representative collection of Starr-Gennett artifacts.
  12. An interactive presentation of the Starr-Gennett story, including ongoing educational programs.
  13. An historic designation for the original Starr-Gennett site.
  14. To support and implement other activities and services that support the purpose of the Foundation as opportunities become available.
